BIS ISI Mark certification

Prepare your ISI Mark certification project with a clear plan.

Support for manufacturers seeking a BIS licence under Scheme I, from the applicable-standard review through documentation, testing and factory-assessment readiness.

When Scheme I may apply

Licensing for products covered by the BIS Standard Mark route.

Scheme I is the product-certification route associated with the BIS Standard Mark, commonly called the ISI Mark. For products covered by a mandatory Quality Control Order, the manufacturer must hold the applicable licence before using the mark and placing the covered product on the Indian market.

Initial review

Confirm the product, standard and factory scope.

  • Applicable Indian Standard and Quality Control Order
  • Product varieties, grades, sizes or models
  • Manufacturing process and quality controls
  • In-house testing facilities and external testing needs
  • Factory location and application documentation

Our ISI support

Preparation for testing, assessment and licensing.

Requirement review

We help establish the standard, product scope and certification requirements that should be considered.

Application documentation

We organise business, manufacturing, quality-control and technical records for the agreed application.

Testing arrangements

We coordinate agreed testing activities and help address document or sample-readiness issues.

Factory-assessment readiness

We help the manufacturer prepare relevant production controls, testing arrangements and supporting records.

Factory preparation

The licence concerns the manufacturing operation as well as the product.

Factory readiness may include the manufacturing process, control of materials, inspection and testing arrangements, records and the ability to demonstrate conformity with the applicable Indian Standard.

We clarify the expected responsibilities, identify gaps in the available documentation and coordinate the agreed preparation work. The final licensing decision and any assessment requirements remain with BIS.

Regulatory reference: See the official BIS Product Certification Overview. The applicable Quality Control Order, Indian Standard and current BIS procedure should be confirmed for the specific product.
